4-13 poor governance pt 1

What is our purpose or obligation as a Christian on this earth?

Matthew 28:19-20

To glorify God through the great commission. Going throughout all the world and making disciples, introducing people to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

John 15 fruit of abiding in Him is fully in harmony of agenda in Him as He was fully in harmony of will with the Father.

We begin to look more like Him, and we will do more like what he did.

What then is our obligation as a christian in America or in a nation where I have civic duties to vote or speak out against poor governance?

Regardles of time or location, the purpose remains the same. We are children of God, before being citizens of a nation.

According to God’s Word we are to be submissive to our ruling authorities. While there are times when this may not be the case, this should be normative.

When can we stand up against the government and revolt, like the American Revolution?

When we look at Acts, we see lack of rights and entitlement by them even during the reign of Nero and other tyrants who sought to destroy them all and scripture. When we look through Jesus’ teachings, Paul’s, Peter’s, John’s teachings, we see a drive towards faith in God’s Sovereign will and plan. Yet there are still times when Civil Disobedience is required. These are when we are told that we must follow policies or actions that violate God’s Word.

When we disobey the earthly leadership, we must be prepared for the consequences. The apostles showed that obedience to God in action being more important than following man’s law can result in imprisonment or other consequences.

The role of a Christian is not to fight for my “rights”.
